The Power of Peer Support: Why Every Wellbeing Champion Needs a Safe Space Too

Being the “go-to” person for wellbeing can be incredibly rewarding. You are often the listener, the problem solver, the calm presence when things get tough. Whether you are an MHFAider, a Wellbeing Champion, or simply that person everyone turns to when they need advice or reassurance, you are providing a vital service within your workplace

But let’s be honest, it can also be heavy. Constantly supporting others takes emotional energy. You are giving a lot of yourself, often without realising it, and while you might be helping others manage stress, anxiety, or burnout, who is looking out for you?

At BMR Health & Wellbeing, we see this pattern time and again. The people who are most passionate about supporting others often have the least time or space to prioritise their own wellbeing. That is why our next free session, The Wellbeing Peer Supporter Power Half-Hour, is designed especially for you — the supporters, the champions, the helpers, and the listeners.

This is not another traditional webinar filled with slides and statistics. It is a live, open conversation facilitated by Director of BMR Health and Wellbeing, Sheila Lord , where honesty and connection take centre stage. Think of it as a virtual roundtable — a safe space where you can share experiences, swap ideas, and get a bit of support for yourself too.

We will be using Slido throughout the session, which allows for anonymous participation. You can answer polls, share insights, and ask questions without names or job titles attached. That means you can be completely open and honest about what is really going on in your role. Confidentiality is paramount.

During the session, we will explore questions such as:

  • What is the hardest part about supporting others in your organisation

  • Does being an MHFAider or Wellbeing Champion ever clash with your day job

  • How well does your organisation support you in return

  • What works brilliantly in your workplace that others could learn from

This Power Half-Hour is not about instruction, it is about connection. It is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and learn from others who understand exactly what it is like to be in your position.

At BMR, our approach has always been to create real conversations, not corporate talk. We believe that meaningful change comes from honesty and collaboration, not box-ticking. Our sessions are always safe, inclusive, and practical, offering genuine insights and small actions that can make a big difference back in the workplace.

Even the best wellbeing strategies fail if the people delivering them are running on empty. Peer supporters and wellbeing leads need time and space to recharge, reflect, and feel valued. This session gives you exactly that — half an hour that is just for you.

So, if you are a Wellbeing Champion, MHFAider, or simply someone who supports others at work, join us for the Wellbeing Peer Supporter Power Half-Hour. You will leave with new perspectives, shared experiences, and perhaps even a sense of relief that you are not alone in how you feel.

Because wellbeing starts with connection, and connection starts with conversation.
